Due to the Temporal Barrier affecting the flow of time, leaving Mt. Firmament comes at the cost having one's life shortened exponentially. The longer that someone lives in the Temporal Barrier, the less likely that they are to survive leaving.
In ancient times, a colossal vehicle descended on Mt. Firmament alongside Jué, and this vehicle became Mianloong Chamber. It is believed that the Sentinel came from a faraway star, and the chamber was its hibernation pod. Researchers from the Court of Savantae often visited the mountain, and built defense mechanisms for the Mianloong Chamber in exchange for the opportunity to research the area's time fluctuations.
At one point, a group of individuals young enough to survive the aging left Mt. Firmament and founded Jinzhou. Others stayed and worshipped Jué as their god, vowing to protect the land, and carved the Sentinel's likeness into the mountain.
